The Hotel Narragansett opened in 1902 at its current location on Broadway, between 93rd and 94th Streets. In 1942, it shifted its operations to accommodate welfare-supported tenants, and in the 1950s and '60s, it continued to serve those in need. Since 1994, The Narragansett has operated as a mixed-use building providing permanent, supportive housing on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It serves low-income New Yorkers, the medically fragile, and other special needs populations.
